1947 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery

"Sudden Delivery"

A postwar hauler with a very modern secret — twin turbocharged, 650 horsepower, and built from a bare shell up.

Build Concept

Old Soul. Serious Teeth. Special Delivery.

The 1947 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery came home as nothing more than a shell and a chassis — a blank slate with great bones and zero pretension. That's exactly the kind of project DIRRTY CUSTOMS was built for.

Under the hood sits an iron block 5.3L fed by a pair of CX Racing turbos running 15psi, bolted to a Tremec 6-speed pulled from a GTO and spinning a Ford 8.8 rear end hung on a triangulated 4-link with coilovers. The whole show is managed by a Holley Dominator EFI system with a custom wiring harness neatly tucked to keep the engine bay as clean as the exterior. The result is a car that dyno'd at 650 horsepower to the wheels — in a body that most people would walk right past without a second look.

The paint scheme ties it all together — a period-correct silver and green two-tone with swooping graphics and the "Sudden Delivery" logo on the rear panel, a nod to the WW2 nose art tradition with a pin-up straddling a beer keg. Up front, a chrome bumper sourced for its fitment and period styling. Out back, a clean rollpan delete and a set of 90s Cadillac taillights that look like they were always meant to be there. It was a blast to build and a hoot to drive. Mission accomplished.

What Was Done

Key Modifications & Parts

Iron Block 5.3L V8 — Twin Turbo

A pair of CX Racing turbos running 15psi. Dyno'd at 650 horsepower to the wheels — in a body nobody expects to be fast.

Holley Dominator EFI & Custom Harness

Full engine management via Holley Dominator EFI with a custom wiring harness neatly tucked and routed to keep the engine bay as clean as the exterior. No zip tie spaghetti here.

Holley Digital Dash & Dakota Digital Gauges

All the vitals displayed clearly and cleanly — Holley Digital Dash paired with Dakota Digital gauges. Function and form, exactly as it should be.

Tremec 6-Speed Transmission

Sourced from a Pontiac GTO and matched to the 5.3 for a crisp, confidence-inspiring shift.

Ford 8.8 Rear End

Proven, strong, and widely supported — the right choice for the power this car makes.

Triangulated 4-Link & Coilovers

Custom rear suspension setup that keeps it planted and slammed — dialed in for street manners and spirited driving alike.

Rollpan & Cadillac Taillights

Factory rear bumper deleted in favor of a clean rollpan, finished with 90s Cadillac taillights that look like they were always meant to be there.

"Sudden Delivery" Custom Paint

Period-correct two-tone livery with swooping graphics and a WW2 nose art-inspired logo on the rear panel. Lighthearted on the outside. Anything but on the inside.
