Build Concept

The LT-1 Legacy. Fully Realized.

The 1970 Corvette LT-1 is one of the most celebrated small block builds in American automotive history — a high-revving, high-output engine in one of the most iconic sports car bodies ever designed. This build honors that legacy while taking everything underneath it to a level the factory never imagined.

At its core is a custom tube chassis spec'd with SRIII Motorsports — built to DIRRTY CUSTOMS' drivetrain specifications with coilovers and a steering rack included. The engine is a dry sump Gen V LT1 from a 2019 Corvette, built with all forged internals and topped with LT4 heads and an LT4 supercharger. Power goes through a Tremec TR6060 6-speed to a 5th Gen Camaro ZL1 rear differential, with 345mm wide rear rubber putting 700 horsepower to the ground.

The C3 body remains largely stock with subtle rear fender flares to accommodate the wide rubber — the result of SRIII moving the wheels inboard as far as possible. The vacuum-operated systems that plagued C3 owners for decades — hidden headlights, wiper door — have been converted to electric. Full C6 Corvette suspension converted to coilovers, electric power steering, and electric power brakes round out a package that brings the C3 fully into the 21st century without losing an ounce of its character.

Managed by Holley EFI with full digital gauges, and wearing LT-1 SC badging as a nod to both its heritage and its supercharged heart.

What Was Done

Key Modifications & Parts

SRIII Motorsports Custom Tube Chassis

Spec'd to DIRRTY CUSTOMS' drivetrain requirements — coilovers and steering rack included. The foundation everything else is built around.

Gen V LT1 — Dry Sump, Forged, Supercharged

Dry sump 2019 Corvette LT1 short block with all forged internals, LT4 heads, and LT4 supercharger. Holley EFI management with full digital gauges.

Tremec TR6060 6-Speed

A transmission worthy of the power being put through it — the TR6060 is the right tool for a 700 horsepower street and track build.

5th Gen ZL1 Rear Differential — 345mm Tires

A Camaro ZL1 rear diff puts the power down through 345mm wide rear rubber — serious grip for serious power.

C6 Corvette Suspension — Coilover Converted

Full C6 Corvette suspension geometry converted to coilovers — modern handling in a classic body.

Full Electric Conversion — Vacuum Delete

Hidden headlights, wiper door, power steering, and power brakes all converted to electric. The C3's notorious vacuum gremlins — eliminated.

Z06 Big Brake Kit

Full Z06 big brake setup — stopping power that matches the go-fast capability of the rest of the build.

Subtle Rear Fender Flares & Custom Quarters

Wheels moved inboard as far as possible by SRIII, with subtle 1-2" wider rear fenders to clear the 345mm rubber — keeping the C3's slab-side profile largely intact.
